Traveling to Egypt can be an exciting and enriching experience, but it’s essential to be well-prepared to ensure a smooth and enjoyable trip. Here are some travel tips for visiting Egypt:

Facing the sun and heat
Hats and other coverings

Shade is always at its highest, with the hot Egyptian sun. Bring a wide-brimmed hat. For women, this is especially important, as you will be more accepted when walking around old churches and mosques if you wear some type of head covering. You will also need to bring scarves or similar clothing, not only for protection from the sun, but to visit religious sites where such clothing is expected. When it’s very hot, you can soak a plain cloth hat or scarf in water to help keep your head cool.

Travel insurance:
Consider purchasing travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and other unforeseen events. Check what your insurance covers and carry a copy of your policy with you.

currency:
The local currency in Egypt is the Egyptian Pound (EGP). It’s a good idea to have some cash on hand for small purchases, but credit cards are widely accepted in larger cities and tourist areas. ATMs are readily available

Sunglasses
You will find yourself more than once contemplating the wonderful view of the sand and desert. You will need a good pair of sunglasses with a very high UV rating. Again, although these things can be purchased in Egypt, it may be wise to bring your own. . . And a spare pair.

Guidebooks
Yes, it’s fun to just walk around and explore new areas, I highly recommend choosing a good guide (or two). Two good movies are “Raw Proof” and “Lonely Planet”. Even with guided tours, you’ll find that a book like this will give you time to orient before and after the actual tours. These can also be found in Egypt, but why not make sure and save some time by picking one up before you leave?

Visa and passport:
Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months after your planned departure date. Check if you need a visa to enter Egypt and obtain it in advance if necessary. Some nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival.

camera
I’m sure I don’t have to remind you to bring your camera to capture moments from your tours and travel in Egypt. But there are some things you should consider. Most people use ASA film, because many monuments require that flash not be used when taking photos indoors.
Again, keep in mind that photography inside many museums, monuments and cemeteries is prohibited.

Comfortable walking shoes
This is probably one of the first things that most people will ask you to bring to Egypt before you start your private tours or classic tours in Egypt. Most tourists will be doing a fair amount of walking, and shoes should be not only comfortable, but also comfortable. Unlike leather boots intended for mountain walking and the like, hiking boots are also preferably able to “breathe,” and may be made of lightweight nylon or similar fabric. Tennis shoes or other types of athletic shoes are good for this purpose. Also keep in mind that there are a lot of steps in Egypt.

medicine
Don’t forget to bring your prescribed medication! It may be generally available in Egyptian pharmacies, but it may be called a different name. So, to avoid confusion and problems, I suggest you bring the medications you need with you. Fortunately, there is no problem bringing prescription medications into Egypt. It is also convenient to bring your favorite over-the-counter medications. Although you can find similar over-the-counter medications, such as aspirin or heartburn medications, you may not find your favorite brands. Special note: Don’t forget
